Plymouth Barracuda

The Plymouth Barracuda, known as 'Cuda for short, had a short life in terms of production years, but has a long living legacy as a classic pony car from the classic car era. The years of production for the Barracuda were from 1964-1974. But had many distinct changes to the vehicle in that short span.

The first generation of the 'Cuda (1964-1966) looks nothing like what you would think of in a classic sports car. The bubble style back windshield is a killer to what could have been a mean looking pony car in the 60s.

The second generation of the Plymouth Barracuda introduced a convertible option, which is a trait of the car that would stick around until 1971. Other options included a fastback and notchback instead of convertible.

Now, the third generation is when the Barracuda gets mean and lean. The third gen being made from 1970-1974, with each year of car being distinguishable from the grill style. My personal favorite of the third generation Barracuda was the 1971, with the best looking grill style, and only year with dual headlights. An interesting fact about the 1971 'Cuda is that there were only 11 Hemi 'Cuda convertibles produced this year, which have been sold at auction for millions of dollars.

Top: 1971 Barracuda; Bottom: 1 of the 11 1971 Hemi Convertible Plymouth Barracudas, this one sold for $3.5 million at an auction.
