Plymouth Road Runner

The Road Runner got its name from the actual Road Runner cartoon and Plymouth paid the company who created the cartoon, The Warner Brothers, approximately $50,000 for the naming rights to slap on their new vehicles.

Similar to yesterday's post of the Barracuda, there is a rare and extremely valuable model of the Road Runner that is a piece of artwork to collectors today. In 1969, convertible model with a 426 Hemi engine. Only 10 of these cars were ever made. Ever.

The turning years or editions of the Plymouth Road Runner was the second generation beginning in 1971. The style and colors of these years make up for the lack of power, if that's what you're into...

The final year of the Plymouth Road Runner was 1980 after a series of experiments by Plymouth that included different body styles. The primary body style of the 1980 was a coupe-style hatchback that the Road Runner took to the grave after its short but legendary life.
