The El Camino

To bridge the gab between the pickups of the classic car era to the muscle era, this next classic car is a combination of both. The El Camino was first produced in 1959 as a response to Ford's Ranchero, also a half pickup, half coupe, however, the early models of today's famed El Camino flopped and caused General Motors to briefly stop production. The First models were made from 1959-1961 with 36,409 El Caminos made, Chevrolet pulled the model from production.

Chevrolet would try again with the El Camino in 1964 and would make that 2nd generation model until 1967. Different generations of the El Camino would be put into production in the final year of the half car, half pickup in 1987. The most popular versions of the car came in the third generation era from 1968-1972 when Chevy released the El Camino Super Sport edition (SS) next to their also popular Chevelle.

The most modern popularity that circled the El Camino was in the popular Breaking Bad movie entitled, "El Camino." Where the movie is based around a character who has a past of doing illegal work with an El Camino that is sure to be spotted by police if it is seen. The exact car in the movie was a 1971 El Camino which is shown below.
